“Are you an IT student? Then you may take a paid internship in our Bank”: this announcement published by ARMBUSINESSBANK several months ago received an overwhelming response from the students. Over 160 third year and senior students from IT Departments of Armenian universities were eager to take part in this training. However, students from three largest universities of Armenia, namely Yerevan State University, American University of Armenia and National Polytechnic University participated in the internship. Irina Gevorgyan, Hayk Kyureghyan, Luiza Martirosyan and Ruzanna Ghazaryan from among the students selected based on test and interview results managed to complete the internship successfully and receive completion certificates. “Financial organizations mostly seek to enrol experienced specialists in this field, but we decided to take a different approach: along with engagement of specialists with rich experience we carry out staff training ourselves, sharing our experience with them, developing products together ",Arthur Ghazaryan, a financial system development expert, trainer in this two-month programme sees this as a good working format. The theoretical and practical knowledge-rich training included presentations covering the 4X kernel platform for banking systems development, software development processes and basics of financial accounting. It seems fair to say that by the end of the training course the students had a software system developed from scratch. There were also brief introductory seminars on financial market development trends, project management, banking system maintenance and other topics conducted for the students once a week by officers from various departments of the Bank. The students believe that the training was a great opportunity to gain an understanding of how the bank IT systems are designed and developed and how the software development teams work. This was also a good chance for gaining hands-on knowledge, coping with new and exciting challenges as well as for career development. “Most of the students do not fully realize that having flexible and qualified IT specialists is an essential component of the Bank's normal operation. Having organized this training and being a Bank that has chosen digitalization as its strategic direction, we emphasize the importance of the process by providing a platform for professional development and acquisition of professional skills to the best students”, mentioned HR and Corporate Culture Management Department Director Hripsime Glichyan. The Bank welcomes the engagement of new generation in the banking sector and is open to support young people who seek to broaden their horizons and achieve professional excellence.
